Aqua Eight

Vanilla Restaurant Review

Nestled neatly behind Ipswich town centre square the chic, award-winning Aqua Eight restaurant is ideally situated as both a welcome lunchtime haven from the bustle of shopping and a perfect evening retreat. Seating caters not only for group parties and quiet candlelit smaller occasions but there’s also a beautifully furnished, covered and heated courtyard for that summer night al fresco experience.

Approaching its fourth birthday, Aqua Eight is an exciting fusion restaurant boasting a wide ranging South East Asian menu with some exceptional chef’s specials. Their pan Asian cuisine signature dishes of honey glazed black cod, marinated, baked and grilled with Miso sauce; fried soft shell crab with red chilli and curry leaf; delicately stir-fried succulent wasabi sirloin steak with soya and lemongrass or their trade mark Aqua Eight special prawns; Thai chicken skewers, and a wide variety of mouth-watering appetizers make this restaurant and bar the ultimate venue.

The experience begins with warm greetings from Vincent and Kaman ensuring diners are offered polite, discreet, friendly help in making their choices.

The menu is designed to offer a full range of the finest produce blended and fused together with style and presentation, accompanied by a carefully sourced wine menu offering 15 whites and 8 reds by the glass selected for their flavour to accompany this type of cuisine. We were unsure so were offered a taster before choosing.

The presentation and taste of the food is exceptional. It’s a difficult choice but a mix of Hor d’oeuvre appetiser of Scallop truffle, Chilli and pepper squid, Thai chicken skewers, Tempura prawns and Crayfish vermicelli rolls is an excellent start point.

Monk fish tossed with black pepper and honey and pan fried seabass or Thai chicken, roasted duck with mango, Spicy organic pork and Lamb with XO sauce to follow, are all exquisite. It’s also good to know that produce is sourced locally where avaliable.

If you still have room for more AquaEight doesn’t disappoint with the pudding menu either. If you haven’t tried this restaurant, go now. We can’t recommend it highly enough for food, service and ambience – top marks.
